Biting the bullet and converting to my new Tanita scale for weight tracking up here although it records one to two pounds heavier than the trusty old sliding scale I've used for years. Weight is up after several big eating days with my son in town including an amazing meal at the Kennedy Center in DC last night. Will use today as a low cal fasting day to get back on track. Should recover some of the weight loss by later today. Tanita numbers for 12/19/13: Weight - 215.8 Total body fat pct - 19.7 Total body water pct - 55.8 Visceral fat pct - 11 Muscle mass lbs. - 164.8 Physique rating - 6 Bone mass lbs. - 8.4 Daily Calorie Intake - 4082 Metabolic age - 34

Glad you had a great time last night. And it hurts to have to record that much of an 'up tick' but now it's done, it will be downhill from here.

I like the old 'doctor's' scale, the sliding one that it sounds that you have. I don't geek the numbers like you guys, I'm just happy to see a loss. I know I should likely be worried that it's muscle I'm losing and not fat but I just don't have the energy to deal with all that calculation. Just losing weight is enough for me. Good luck with everything. As always, I'm following, even if I don't understand.

What will your new goal weight be, or are you still figuring that out? I took note of Keld's macro website and hope to have time this week-end to have a look at it. It's gonna be a busy week-end but thankfully got some time off over the holidays, not the full 2 weeks I usually get but at least a few days. :)

Dinner at the Kennedy Center HAD to be worth the extra calories - unlike the Christmas donuts that are in our conference room today...:)

Bill, it does take a while to get used to all the numbers, and to learn how to read them. One number goes up, others HAVE to go down. What did you do to make that change? Was is a fat loss or a water gain? Don't worry, you'll get it. :)

I also have a Tanita weighing scale. wow your body water pct is good - mine is 45.5 pct. What is real age?

Hey, Bill. You're not 55, you're 34! Your scale said so! :D Hey, enjoy it. And I'm glad to hear you just cut-over. It would be easier than tracking it all twice with two different scales. I ended up doing that too. My other scale is about 2 or three pounds lighter too. Hey, I think your issue with the Tanita may be that you're doing it different times of the day after / before meals and stuff. I think those fat scales don't handle that as well as normal weight. You might consider recording data for different times of the day (if you wnat to do it that way) in different spreadsheets. That way, you're comparing apples to apples. Or only record that stuff at your first weigh-in in the morning, or something, and just go with the weight recording the rest of the day. Just a thought.

The morning one, after you (ahem!) clear things, but before eating or drinking anything... that's the one I've heard is the most accurate, as it is least affected by incidental fluid or food in your digestive system.
