Diario di Deb_N, 16 set 14

For ChrisComedy and anyone interested. I don't know where I read it or if I heard it on the radio, but this is the info on how to choose the most healthy pre-packaged Veggie Pattie, Veggie Patty, Veggie Burger: 1) The first ingredient must be a vegetable. 2) Each pattie, patty, burger should be less than 150 calories. 3) Look for 7 grams of protein. If higher than 7 grams it probably has added soy protein, not veggie protein. HTH

I typed that last night but fell asleep and said I will send it today. Woke up with a headache. Going back to bed. ;) So glad that FatSecret is catching most of my misspelled words. lol

Morning, it's a pretty one though chilly here. Better yet on the veggie burgers make your own. I made and froze 60 awhile ago while watching something on TV, I need to make more, they are gone. Total cost was less than $6.00 using home cooked beans. Complementary protein was beans and ground sunflower and flax seed. Hard to calculate exact proteins using complementary proteins.

Next time I make them, I'll measure and post directions in my cookbook. I didn't enter it last time.

Thanks for the info, Deb. I was reading my journal from a year ago and saw that I bought five boxes of Morningstar Farms veggie burgers at Kroger. Face plant.

Thanks, everyone! I would love to make my own veggie burgers. That way you can control the salt and no extra things added like preservatives. I wanted to make a topic at FatSecret to talk about Veggie Burgers and how to make them.

I have seen that salt is in the news, that it is not that bad for you. Salt is controversial now. Stay tuned for that one! If potato chips have less salt, people will eat more chips and consume more carbs and fat which is bad for them. So researchers are saying keep the chips salty. crazy

What they could not get more mileage out of coffee and eggs?? :)))). Well everyone needs some sodium, not saying salt. I use sea salt sparingly as a seasoning. I do crave salty if I've been working or playing out in the hot summer sun all day. That's when a FEW salted peanuts, pretzels, or chips taste good. Figure my body needs some extra. Interesting to see what the spin will be on salt.
