Today is a new day, a new month and a new me. Many years ago I stopped drinking anything with sugar (glucose) and used aspartame. It was a couple of years ago that I switched to sucralose which many people said was better than aspartame. I decided to give up these artificial sweeteners. For those of you still using them, don't feel pressured to stop. Water is good for you, but if you have some artificial sweeteners to keep you from having those drinks full of sugar, then you have to do what works for you. When you get ready you can limit the diet sodas and artificial sweeteners. I wish you best of luck! ♥

I don't think too much about sweeteners, I only drink them in a diet drink a couple of glasses a week, that won't kill me. I eat and drink everything in moderation and it works.

I have used Stevia on and off. Hasn't been implicated in anything - yet.

Once in awhile use splenda or Stevie. Mostly I use coconut sugar, sugar, or granulated homey in tea. Some brown sugar in bread and once in a while one of these options on an old fashioned desert. Toast with butter and a bit of sugar.

I agree, and congratulations of your giving up sucralose too.

That is great! I like how you tackle things one at a time.

I drink my coffee with no sugar or sweeteners. Got used to it. But I still have a diet soda once a day with dinner, and an occasional Diet Lipton Iced Tea for lunch. I drink plenty of water during the day, and I have been drinking water a little more lately with lunch & dinner instead of the diet drinks.

After a couple of months without any sugar, aside from what's added to processed foods, I got a couple of bags of Domino Light, half Stevia, half sugar. Half the calories of sugar with twice the sweetness. Not sold at Kroger so I got it at Amazon. Mostly used for coffee.

As commented above - all things in moderation. I went cold turkey off soda, even diet soda, when I started this and now don't like the taste but realize the sugar is tiptoe'g back in via the occasional wine, etc. It's tricky and awareness is key.

I switched to black coffee about 1.5 year ago. That cut out most of my sugar intake. I've never quotes learned to drink tea without a bit f sweet.

I add frozen fruit to my water and I love it. I too was adding those powder mixes to my water as I do not drink pop (soda as most folks call it) or any other pre-made drinks. I make tea and lemonade-iced tea at home and occasionally will have some fruit juice, usually apple. As you may know, I get kind of discouraged often as the things people tell me they did to lose weight, I already don't do. So, its like hmmmm what's left?

Wholefoods does the brown sugar work well in bread? I've been wanting to try it. I have a recipe for pumpkin oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries that I'm going to make for an event at church and it calls for half white sugar and half brown. I'm going to try it with all brown.

Good for you Deb, I do like water but I have to have a diet pepsi a day

No idea how it would work in cookies, I would be careful about how much liquid you put in since it is moister than white sugar. You also don't tend to need as much as it tastes sweeter than regular white. I use it in whole grain bread to help it rise more, therefore a lighter bread. Whole grain breads with no sugar are really good but usually really dense. I also like the bit of sweetness it adds.
