Just realised that this is the lowest weight I have been this century! LOL.

Recording a spot weight wasn't working on 5:2, too much daily fluctuation, so have now decided to use an average of Sunday's and Monday's weight. Thanks for the idea, Giles! I think that will work.

I have also been trying to work out how long it might take me to reach my eventual goal weight, and I think it's going to be AT LEAST another 30 weeks! It sounds like a long time. But I am feeling very positive about it because I have made good progress in the 13 weeks I've been here already, and can see and feel a lot of differences in myself. It's so nice to see other people on FS progressing in that time, too!

I'm pleased to say I feel a lot more relaxed about the whole weight-loss thing now. When I started, I had intended to do it as a 'diet' just until the end of September, and try to lose as much weight as possible in that time. Now I'm thinking of it as a more long-term activity to lose weight, and an even longer-term prospect to learn to keep it off, which I still think is going to be the hardest part, especially mentally, but also the most important part. I'm so glad I've made those realisations - I think they will make all the difference to my future well-being!

Thanks to all my buddies for encouraging, inspiring and informing me! I'm sure I wouldn't have reached this point without you!

Now looking forward to starting some new challenges I've joined!

Not at ALL surprised by your progress to date -- especially with all your biking and hill-conquering!! That's a healthy change in perspective as well . . . you and I are practically the same weight so let's keep this up together, Buddy!

well done, I am glad you are more relaxed about, too many people stress themselves out bout and then they set themselves up to fail. The best way is not to see it at a diet but a way to change your eating habits to become more healthy, the added bonus is that it normally means you will lose weight. The problem with setting up diets is that you normally cut out major food groups that help with the weight lose but not with the education of nutrition and that's why so many people put the weight back on. One of the biggest things to tackle is what they call the Psychology of Change and that is finding out why you do it, are there certain times or events that make you do something and what you can put into effect to change it, you seem to be well on the way to that. People try and change to much at once, don't forget you have eaten this way for years and a lot has become a habit its not going to change in a few weeks it takes time to break habits, so only change one thing at a time, the following month change something else and before you know it you will be a your lowest weight this century. Well done

You are doing great. I know you will keep it up. Change of life style and eating habits works better than any diet. Regards Jim

Well done Heidi, It is your positive attitude that will help you reach your target. You are doing great. And don't forget you can have a little treat now and again, that also helps keep you on track. :)

Thanks again all! Deborah I do have some treats, in fact they are almost compulsory on 5:2, or I find in not getting enough calories in on non-fasting days! Any ideas on low GI treats? Lol! Is there such a thing?
22 set 15 da utente: heidij123
Low Gi Treats? Nuts, especially brazil, almond and hazelnuts are good. Hummus with veggie sticks, I usually get the stack pots, 3 different flavours and 70 grams a pot so I don't overdo it (I just love hummus). Fruit is good if you eat the whole fruit. And most dips are ok with veggies or rough oatcakes. You can also have dark chocolate over 70%, I'm looking for brazil nuts covered in dark chocolate at the moment. Try to get hold of Collins gem GI how to succeed using a glycaemic index diet, its a great little book, full of tips and information. I take mine everywhere with me. And you know what? I find that I can eat cake if I just have a small amount, and only now and then...at Christmas I made myself bite sized mincepies and came to no harm, still lost weight and reduced my blood sugar levels so anything is possible with will power. It really is all about moderation.

Okay, thanks for that! The dark chocolate sounds good, and the Brazil nuts, and the bite-size mincepies 😀
