OMG, I spent 4yrs trying to get rid of these in my backyard. 🙄

Unhealthydaddy, we talked to a few neighbors and they are all happy to see the sunflowers. Not sure about the person one street over. It’s an empty lot. Why didn’t you want them?

Oh, we just wanted to get rid of them because they were in our planter boxes. And we keep talking about starting a garden. It hasn't happened yet. I hope to plant something this season though.  

It's a flower of survival which mimics the survivors of this terrible ordeal. Hope things are getting better for you and house is getting back together!!🙏💜

I was amazed by the vigor of the plant life after Ian. I agree, it truly represents hope. I have trouble growing sunflowers… slugs demolish them. Any suggestions?

Answer for YF and those who are interested, to eliminate slugs that do not approach the plants spray the area with coffee pour it around the plant, and the smell scares them away, you can also use the coffee grounds, ash, it makes it difficult for them to advance, crushed eggshells around the plants damage them because the pieces of shell cuts them, traps buried at ground level with liquid beer, water with vinegar, and for the rest of aphids, mealybugs and some spiders spray the plant with a solution of potassium soap 25g per 10 liters of water, several times a week, without flooding the plant, when the pest is controlled once every 2 months as a precaution, All these remedies are ecological strengthen plants and fertilize, I hope you will be useful.
