Liv001, after so many coming and going I can see a pattern by the colors. Females almost always have 3 colors on them. Their grandmother and mother both has 3 colors. Over the years I only found 1 female with less than 3 colors, very rare. Not sure about other type/breed though.

I have had lots of female cats with less than 3 colors on them. The 3 colors which are commonly called calico (black, white, and orange) are always female. It has to do with the genetics to make the 3 colors dominate are only on female genes.
